The Chief Specialist – Contracts & Agreements at RTA plays a vital legal role in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, legislation, and arbitration matters. The ideal candidate must bring deep expertise in law, especially in contract law, arbitration, and litigation, to ensure compliance and mitigate risk across all legal activities related to the Roads and Transport Authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and draft legislation such as decrees, laws, and regulations relevant to RTA’s scope.
- Recommend arbitrators and barristers, and manage legal correspondence per Unfired Claim Committee directives.
- Accept or reject compromise offers and ensure favorable legal settlements.
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to protect RTA’s interests.
- Evaluate legal risks in agreements and align them with internal policies and procedures.
- Handle arbitration cases, prepare briefs, and provide legal strategies.
- Vet pleadings and submissions made by appointed barristers representing RTA.
- Coordinate with internal departments and Dubai Government Legal entities for effective case handling.
- Conduct legal studies and contribute to projects across departments by offering actionable legal recommendations.
- Maintain a database of disputes to improve contract standards and avoid future conflicts.
- Provide clear legal advice to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations.
- Deliver legal training, contribute to publications, and lead in legal policy development.
- Ensure full adherence to RTA’s information security protocols in handling sensitive data.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Law with 11+ years of experience, or Master’s in Law with at least 9 years of experience. - Experience:
At least 10 years in law practice, including experience in arbitration and litigation. - Skills:
- Strong legal writing and analytical capabilities
- Deep understanding of contract law, arbitration, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple legal projects with efficiency
- High-level planning, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Proficient in legal research and drafting
- Technologically adept and comfortable with legal tech platforms
