About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Accountant (UAE National) for IKEA at Festival Plaza, Jebel Ali. In this role, you will work closely with the accounting team, store operations, tax department, and shared services to manage day-to-day finance functions. You will ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and seamless support for business operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger and Accounting
- Maintain accurate books of accounts, including general ledger and sub-ledgers
- Prepare and review G/L schedules for accuracy and compliance
- Reconcile GL accounts and prepare actionable reports
Petty Cash Handling
- Track and reconcile RSO petty cash daily
- Review store petty cash reimbursement requests and ensure compliance
- Submit and follow up on replenishment of petty cash expenses
Accounts Payable
- Coordinate with Shared Service teams on AP and inventory-related GL accounts
- Monitor reconciliations and initiate necessary actions regularly
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Al-Futtaim’s accounting and finance policies
- Support store teams with VAT compliance procedures
LPO Creation and Invoice Processing
- Create and manage LPOs for Regional Service Office departments
- Share open LPO reports monthly with department heads
- Verify invoices and submit to APSSC for timely payments
Clearing and Intercompany Accounts
- Reconcile cash, credit card, forex, and other clearing accounts monthly
- Generate Intercompany (ICM) reports, track pending invoices, and coordinate with Retail Finance
- Ensure all intercompany transactions are balanced and properly documented
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide timely, accurate financial information to internal departments
- Liaise with vendors to ensure VAT-compliant invoice submissions
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Understanding of VAT regulations and tax compliance
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a reputable company
- Experience in tax accounting is a plus
- UAE National candidates preferred as part of Emiratisation initiative
