The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is actively hiring a Senior Chief Engineer – Roads Design (24001772). This strategic, full-time role is based in Dubai and focuses on overseeing the design performance of major road infrastructure projects. Ideal candidates bring a wealth of engineering experience, along with strong strategic, managerial, and advisory skills.
Job Purpose
The role aims to lead and enhance the performance of RTA’s Road Design Section. You will oversee strategic planning, project evaluations, budgeting, consultant selection, and global benchmarking for road design operations. The role also involves mentoring and developing engineering teams to align with global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate regular management reviews on progress, objectives, and performance metrics
- Ensure timely submission and monitoring of measurable goals and targets
- Advise on key performance indicators and strategic objectives for all design projects
- Provide expert input for selecting consultants and partners for high-level road design tenders
- Support budget planning, monitor implementation phases, and recommend adjustments as needed
- Benchmark and evaluate international road design standards, regulations, and technologies
- Deliver technical training to design staff to develop advanced engineering capabilities
- Offer ongoing strategic advice to improve road infrastructure design in line with RTA’s vision
- Take on any additional duties as assigned by the Line Manager or Head of Department
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering + minimum 8 years of experience
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering + minimum 5 years of experience
- PhD in Civil Engineering + minimum 3 years of experience
- Degrees must be from accredited institutions recognized by relevant engineering bodies

- Proven ability to manage large-scale infrastructure projects and teams
